The Alliance for People with Social Phobia is a non-profit organization (now in its formative stages) run for and by people with social phobia. The Alliance (APSP) publishes SPnewsletter, the free international, postal newsletter all about social phobia written from the patient's perspective.
The APSP has a simple two-pronged mission: First, we would like to raise awareness for social phobia from the patient's perspective in an accurate and comprehensive manner. We feel that the totality of the SP condition and what it means to the social phobia sufferer is often missed by many in healthcare as well as the general public. Thus, we are dedicated to bringing the social phobia patient's experience/understanding to the forefront of our society. We hope to achieve this with SPnewsletter, our future SP video library and other SP awareness projects. |

The APSP is also determined to make this world a friendlier place for social phobics
by creating SP support systems and resources. In addition to SPnewsletter and the
SP International Contact List, we feel that there is a strong need for support/activity groups for social phobics. In the US today, it is very difficult for a person with social phobia to find a social phobia support group. Although many of us would like to meet, we often don't know where to find others like us. Thus, the APSP is dedicated to forming a network of activity groups all over the US where social phobics can get together with each other and do things in a friendly, no-pressure environment.
We at the APSP would like to thank you for stopping by and we hope you have enjoyed our web-site. As we work towards our goals, it is our sincere hope and belief that in the near future, everyone will understand the patient's perspective of social phobia and the stigma of mental illness will be a thing of the past. We hope you join us in our cause.
Thanks for your support!
Sincerely,
The Alliance for People with Social Phobia
